Rehoboth Beach Museum
Rehoboth Beach Museum has exhibits centered on antique and vintage artifacts from Rehoboth’s early days through the present. Admission is on a donation basis, and operational hours are seasonal. Summer hours, which run from Memorial Day through Halloween, are 10:00am to 4:00pm on Monday through Friday and 11:00am to 3:00pm on weekends. From November 1st through Memorial Day, the museum is open on Fridays from 10:00am to 4:00pm and on weekends from 11:00am to 3:00pm.
Anna Hazzard Museum
Named for one of Rehoboth’s past civic leaders, the Anna Hazzard Museum is dedicated to telling the story of Rehoboth through the lens of its period as a Christian resort town during the 1870s. Nestled within a historic “Tent” house, the museum contains a variety of memorabilia and artifacts from Rehoboth Beach’s religiously-centered past. Additionally, the museum has rotating exhibits on Rehoboth’s role in World War II and other historical events. The museum is open on Fridays during the summer season and by reservation during other times of the year. Admission ranges from $2.00 to $5.00.
Zwaanendael Museum
Located in nearby Lewes Beach, the Zwaanendael is a fascinating museum that focuses on the maritime, social, and military history of the area around Lewes. Housed within a structure modeled after Hoorn’s town hall in the Netherlands, the design of the museum pays homage to the Dutch being the first settlers of Delaware’s first European settlement in 1631. Admission is free, though donations are accepted. From April 1st through Halloween, the museum runs on Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00am to 4:30pm and on Sundays from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. From November 1st through March 31st, the museum is open on Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00am to 4:30pm.
Nanticoke Indian Museum
Tucked away in Millsboro nearby, the Nanticoke Indian Museum is the only museum dedicated to Native Americans in the entirety of Delaware. Here, you can see tribal artifacts from as early as 8000 B.C. Admission is $1.00 for children and $3.00 for adults. The museum is open on Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00am to 4:00pm and Sundays from noon to 4:00pm during the months of April through December. From January through March, the museum is open during the same times, only on Thursday through Saturday and Sundays.
Lightship Overfalls
One of only 17 remaining lightships remaining from the early 1800s to early 1950s and one of 7 open to the public, the Lightship Overfalls is a unique maritime attraction and museum that predates the creation of the U.S. Coast Guard. Admission is $5.00 for visitors ages 15 and up, and free for children 14 and under. The museum operates from 10:00am to 4:00pm on varying days depending on the season.
