Things to do in Rehoboth Delaware: Celebrate the Holiday Season Rehoboth-Style

One of the great advantages of visiting Rehoboth Beach during the fall or winter is the slower pace of the atmosphere.

Restaurants that are difficult to book reservations at during the spring and summer seasons suddenly open up to you, such as Henlopen City Oyster House, Salt Air, a(MUSE), Eden, and Crooked Hammock Brewery. You can also take a stroll along the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk and enjoy the lack of crowds, perhaps visiting the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel to pet the parrot and parakeet that live in the hotel’s lobby.

Visitors no longer feel an impending hurriedness to rush through attractions like the Delaware History Trail, which includes a number of historic locales and well-curated museums, or the Delaware Beer, Wine, and Spirits Trail, which showcases the high-quality distilleries, wineries, and microbreweries that call Rehoboth Beach home, such as Nassau Valley Vineyards. For another leisurely activity, go bird-watching in gorgeous parks like Gordon’s Pond, Cape Henlopen State Park, and Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge.

The Rehoboth Beach area also hosts a variety of fun festivals throughout the fall and winter seasons. In Lewes Beach, the Boast the Coast event held by the Zwaanendael Museum at the end of September each year celebrates maritime history with free boat rides, nautical-themed activities that are kid-friendly, a sidewalk sale, and a craft show.

The Rehoboth Jazz Festival in mid-October takes over the area from Lewes Beach to Dewey Beach with three days of live jazz music, while the last weekend of October brings on the classic Sea Witch Halloween and Fiddler’s Festival. Held in Rehoboth Beach proper, this annual fall celebration has a number of unique traditions, including a costume parade, live music from banjo and fiddle players, a broom-tossing contest, and the Chicken Wing Championship.

The summer months may be far away or long past, but there are still things to do in Rehoboth Delaware!
