Top Events During 4th of July in Rehoboth

All throughout the weekend of Independence Day, Rehoboth Beach and the surrounding area band together to put on a spectacular collection of parades, fireworks shows, festivals, charity events, and more. Kick Off Your Independence Day Festivities in Style!

In Rehoboth and its neighboring beaches, Independence Day isn’t just celebrated on the day of; there are tons of fun activities to do in the days leading up to the holiday! On Saturday, July 1st, Lewes Beach will hold the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Annual Art Show, where over one hundred artists will come to the area to showcase their paintings, jewelry, photographs, ceramics, and other art pieces and goods from 9:00am until 3:00pm.

Then, on each night of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th of July, you can catch a wonderful fireworks display from just about any of Delaware’s beaches. Rehoboth Beach will be launching fireworks not only on the 4th, but on Sunday, July 2nd at 9:15pm as well in Downtown Rehoboth. Before and after the fireworks, you can enjoy live music and entertainment at the Bandstand.

Alternatively, you can see the fireworks from the waters of Delaware Bay by reserving your spot on the Lewes Ferry for the annual July 3rd Fireworks Cruise. Listen to live music, eat and drink, and marvel at the fireworks during this event, which lasts from 6:45pm until 11:00pm. Fireworks go off at around 9:00pm to 9:30pm. A word of advice: bring a beach chair with you so that you have guaranteed seating on the boat!

On the day of July 4th, you can revel in an all-day celebration in Lewes Beach. Beginning at 9:00am, the city hosts old-fashioned games for children on Second Street, during which time the street closes and vintage amusements are enjoyed. Then, the Lewes Independence Day Boat Parade floats down the Lewes-Rehoboth canal, making its way from Roosevelt Inlet to Fisherman’s Wharf from 1:30pm to 2:00pm. Later on at 5:00pm, the Doo Dah Parade takes places—a family-friendly event where spectators enjoy a parade with silly floats and antics.

As for the fireworks themselves, you can enjoy them at about 9:00pm on all of the local beaches, including Dewey Beach, Rehoboth Beach, and Bethany Beach. The best views for these fireworks will be near the bay, so plan accordingly!
