VACATION RENTALS BY REMAX LOGO WHITE ×

Rehoboth Beach, like many towns and cities in New England, prides itself on its rich and long history. Delaware is known as the First State, due to the fact that they were the first state to sign the new Constitution, and early settlers to the area came long before that. Rehoboth Beach has set itself apart from other Delaware cities because of its status for decades as a premier vacation destination. Learn all about the fun and interesting history of Rehoboth Beach at the Rehoboth Beach Historical Society and Museum!

Exhibitions

The Rehoboth Beach Historical Society Museum offers a wide variety of exhibitions that change each season, meaning each time you visit the museum you are in for something new and different! They have a permanent exhibition called “Rehoboth Speaks,” which features classic artifacts that speak to the history of the town. They currently have a temporary exhibition called “Dive into History” which focuses on the history of having fun at Rehoboth Beach. Past exhibitions have included focus on surfing, shipwrecks, local restaurants, and an annual needlepoint exhibition.

Tours and Events

In addition to regular museum exhibitions, the Rehoboth Beach Historical Society also hosts regular tours and events all around the city of Rehoboth Beach. The Jolly Trolley Tour takes place once a month and takes you through the downtown area. Meet at one of Rehoboth Beach’s many historical houses, tour all around the city, and end at the Rehoboth Beach Museum for just $10. Multiple times a month is a walking tour of downtown Rehoboth Beach, also for just $10. Another fun event is Scooter’s: A Way of Life, which discusses the history and evolution of the scooter and its effect on Rehoboth Beach.
