Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge, the Great Marsh Preserve, Cape Henlopen State Park, and Gordon’s Pond State Park are located in the northern part of the area, nestled near Lewes and Rehoboth Beach. The Delaware Seashore State Park is located between Dewey Beach and Bethany Beach, while Fenwick Island State Park is situated in the southernmost portion of the region. These scenic spots are ideal for hiking, biking, wildlife watching, swimming on the beach, and a variety of water-based activities. Cape Henlopen even has a disc golf course!

Previously-mentioned Cape Henlopen State Park is home to Fort Miles, a fort established during World War II in order to protect Delaware from submarine attack. The Indian River Life Saving Service Station in the Delaware Seashore State Park was built in 1876 for rescuing shipwrecked mariners. The Ryves-Holt House in Lewes’ Historic District is supposedly the oldest house in Delaware, built during the 17th century. The town of Milton is also home to a charming historic district. The Rehoboth Beach Historical Museum, the attached Anna Hazzard Museum, the DiscoverSea Shipwreck Museum, the Lightship Overfalls, the Nanticoke Indian Museum, and the Zwaanendael Museum are also worth checking out.
